Drone
filming

The difficult part is not flying. It is knowing, before the crew leaves, whether this particular location can be flown at all.

01THE REAL CONSTRAINT

The best views here sit in the most regulated places.

The region's recognisable landscapes are not randomly distributed: cliffs, ancient sites, canyons and a long coastline. That same list is also the list of the most controlled airspace and protected ground.

The practical consequence is simple. Whether a location can be flown has to be settled before anyone drives out. Otherwise the crew travels, the day is lost and the job slips.

So we work in reverse order: the status of the location is established first, the shooting plan is written second. If it cannot be flown, the alternative framing — the same view from an adjacent point, an elevated position, or a ground-based solution — is shown in the quote.

02ZONE ASSESSMENT

Which category does the location fall into?

Requests here fall into roughly six types. The table is not a list of specific places but the logic we apply — we tell you which column your location sits in during the first call.

ZONE TYPE · DECISION LOGIC ASSESSED SEPARATELY FOR EVERY JOB→ SCROLL SIDEWAYS
TYPE 01USUALLY CLEAR

Private land, outside settlements

Construction sites, greenhouses, farmland, factory grounds. With the owner's consent and clear airspace, these are the fastest shoots to schedule.

TYPE 02CONDITIONAL

Hotel and resort grounds

Where guests are present, privacy dictates timing and route. Usually planned for early morning, together with the venue management.

TYPE 03PERMIT REQUIRED

Near the airport

Restricted airspace. Not flown without clearance. If the location sits here, we either obtain permission or build the framing from the ground.

TYPE 04PERMIT REQUIRED

Heritage and protected sites

Old town areas, ancient cities and registered sites may need permission from the responsible institution as well as aviation clearance.

TYPE 05CONDITIONAL

Crowded beaches and city centre

We do not fly over people. Coastal and public square shots move to the quietest hour of the day, usually just after sunrise.

TYPE 06VARIABLE

Natural areas and canyons

Protection status changes from area to area. One valley may be open while the adjoining one is closed, so each location is checked individually.

03THE RULES

Three things that do not change.

Unmanned aircraft in Türkiye

  • Registration: unmanned aircraft of 500 grams or more are registered in the UAV system of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation.
  • Flight permit: outside the zones defined as free in that system, a flight permit is required.
  • Commercial use: commercial aerial filming requires pilot qualification in addition to registration and permits.

Because the rules are updated periodically, every job follows the regulation in force on the day. The summary here is informational; the binding source is the Directorate General's own publications.

FPV drones are used for continuous moves through tight spaces and are a separate flying discipline; the same registration and permit rules apply.

Aerial work is part of a film

On its own, aerial footage shows the place. The story is built when it is cut together with ground footage — which is planned in the same shoot.

05FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Permits, weather and delivery

Do drone flights need a permit in Türkiye?

Outside the zones marked as free in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation's UAV registration system, a flight permit is required. Every unmanned aircraft of 500 grams or more must also be registered in that system. We establish which category your location falls into before the shoot is booked, and you receive that assessment in writing.

Can you fly over historical sites?

Sites such as old town areas and ancient cities may require permission from the institution responsible for the site in addition to aviation clearance, and the process varies by location. Where permission cannot be obtained, we show the alternative framing in the quote — the same view from an adjacent point, or an elevated ground position.

What about areas near the airport?

Airport surroundings are restricted airspace and are not flown without clearance. If your location falls inside that area we either plan the shoot with permission or rebuild the framing from ground level and elevated positions. Flying without clearance is the worst risk a project can take.

How much does wind affect the shoot?

On this coast the wind usually strengthens in the afternoon, so aerial work is planned for early morning. If conditions are unsafe the shoot is postponed. Flying in marginal weather is both a safety and a quality problem — an unstable frame cannot be rescued in the edit.

Do we get the raw footage?

On request, yes. Standard delivery is the edited video and selected stills. Because raw files are large, the delivery method — drive, cloud or both — is agreed at the start.

What happens if the shoot is cancelled?

If we cannot fly because of weather or permissions, no shooting fee applies and the day is moved. If the shoot is cancelled from your side after the crew has travelled, a travel line applies — and that is written into the quote in advance rather than raised afterwards.

Tell us the location, we will check the airspace.

Write where the shoot is and what it is for. Within three working days we send back whether the location can be flown, which permissions are needed, and what the alternative framing would be if it cannot.
